A 38-marker fatty acid blood panel that reveals your omega-3 to omega-6 balance, trans fat exposure, and full lipid membrane profile, telling you whether your diet is actually protecting your brain and cardiovascular system.

How It Works

1
Schedule your draw or walk in Book an at-home phlebotomist appointment, or walk into any Dynacare collection lab at your convenience.
2
Your blood is collected by a certified professional A trained phlebotomist comes to you at home, or you visit your nearest Dynacare lab. The draw takes about 10 to 15 minutes given the panel depth.
3
Results appear in your MyHealthspan app Your full fatty acid profile is reviewed by a Nurse Practitioner and delivered in your secure app alongside your main panel results.
4
30-minute coaching session focused on your blood results A Longevity Coach walks you through all of your blood results, including your omega index, ratio imbalances, and trans fat markers, with specific dietary and supplementation recommendations.

What You'll Learn

  • Whether your omega-3 to omega-6 ratio is in the range associated with reduced cardiovascular and inflammatory disease risk, and how far off you might be.
  • If your EPA and DHA levels confirm that your fish oil or omega-3 supplement is actually being absorbed and utilized at therapeutic levels.
  • Whether dietary trans fats are circulating in your bloodstream at levels that contribute to arterial inflammation, even if your standard cholesterol looks normal.
  • How your saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated fat profile reflects your overall dietary pattern and its impact on cellular membrane health.

Who This Test Is For

The Fatty Acid Panel is for someone already doing a blood panel who wants to know whether their omega-3 to omega-6 ratio is optimized for brain health, cardiovascular protection, and inflammation control. It is most often chosen by people who supplement with fish oil or flaxseed and want objective confirmation that their supplementation is working, those following a specific dietary protocol such as keto, Mediterranean, or vegan who want every nutritional variable measured, or anyone with a family history of cardiovascular disease or cognitive decline who wants to leave no nutritional variable unexamined.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I order this as a standalone test? +
Fatty acid results are most meaningful when interpreted alongside your broader metabolic and cardiovascular markers. An elevated omega-6 to omega-3 ratio, for instance, means something quite different depending on your hs-CRP, ApoB, and lipid panel results. By pairing the Fatty Acid Panel with a full blood panel, your Longevity Coach can give you a complete, contextual picture rather than a single data point without a frame of reference.
What does an omega-3 deficiency actually look like in results? +
An omega-3 deficiency typically shows up as a low omega-3 index (the combined percentage of EPA and DHA in red blood cell membranes), a high omega-6 to omega-3 ratio, and low absolute levels of EPA and DHA. Research consistently associates an omega-3 index below 4% with meaningfully elevated cardiovascular and cognitive risk. Many people who eat a typical Western diet or supplement inconsistently fall below optimal levels without knowing it.
I take fish oil supplements. Will the test tell me if they're working? +
Yes, this is one of the most common reasons members add this panel. Circulating EPA and DHA levels directly reflect what your body is actually absorbing and utilizing, not just what you are consuming. Supplement dose, form (ethyl ester versus triglyceride), timing, and individual absorption all affect real-world levels. Many people are surprised to find their supplementation is moving the needle less than expected, and the results give your coach a precise target to work toward.
How does this panel differ from a standard cholesterol test? +
A standard cholesterol test measures lipoprotein particles, not the fatty acids within them. The Fatty Acid Panel looks at the actual fat molecules circulating in your bloodstream and incorporated into your cell membranes, including the omega-3, omega-6, saturated, monounsaturated, and trans fat fractions. It answers a completely different question. Cholesterol tells you about particle risk. Fatty acids tell you about the nutritional environment your cardiovascular and neurological systems are operating in.
Can a fatty acid imbalance cause inflammation even if my hs-CRP looks normal? +
Yes. hs-CRP is a downstream marker of acute systemic inflammation. A high omega-6 to omega-3 ratio can create a pro-inflammatory cellular environment, particularly in the brain and arterial walls, that does not always elevate hs-CRP at a detectable level in early stages. Measuring the ratio directly gives you an upstream view of inflammatory potential before it manifests in standard blood markers, which is precisely the kind of early signal that proactive longevity testing is designed to catch.
